    Hi all,

I have just finished my 01408 D&RGW caboose. .....Oops forgotten the to install the air tank...

    Yellow color is self mixed.
    Black transparent home made decals.
Body is Evergreen styrene and brass and copper details.
    Trucks and couplers are MTL
    Windows is Microscale Kristal Klear
All hand painted (also the blue and white in the D&RGW logo).

Thanks for your link on the signature. I can't help but note the level of interest. As a New York'er, my "dream" layout is set in the Black Forest and my friends in Europe like US views.

Getting back to your caboose ... the detail is great!
My only suggestion is to tone-down the silver gloss to better see contrast of the detailing.

Frank, Super work ! I know it takes a LOT of time, patience and effort to create scratch built rolling stock. Plastic flat sheets to a masterpiece.

For something that small to look that good.

    Amazing, absolutely amazing.

    Superb craftsmanship.

Thank yo u for the kind words. Getting the D&RGW logo right was the biggest challenge for me . BTW the roof walk is cut from a thee bag (before used). :) It is fixated with Kristal Klear. Hopefully MTL creates Z-scale caboose trucks some time.

Meanwhile I have updated my homepage with the building steps of 01408.

    Frank,
Did you say the decals are home made? I am impressed with the 4 black stripes.

    Robert,

Attached picture shows some of the home made decals. Made with Paint shop pro and printed in the right size (trial & error) eventually at transparent decal paper.

    All,

Thank you for the encouraging words. There is still a challange for a couple more different versions, like the one stripe and black version. And there are the versions with closed side windows, although the security window frames are difficult to model. (I guess).

    Frank,

I was just catching up on a few months worth of posts here and my 4 year old daughter saw your caboose. She really likes it (and so do I). Wants me to print out the picture for her.

Its hard enough to kitbash, but to scratch build something really takes the cake. Nice work Frank. Also loves those switching videos.
