shamoo, completeGP-35 shells ARE now available from MT for $63.50 (which includes shipping). a bargain price for a saudi oil sheik. dave f.
David, The shell is price so that it doensn't sell. Its the discourage pricing tactic. Its their way of saying, we make it avairlable to you, and you guys are not buying it. Wait, maybe they learn it from Marklin, after you buy all the parts, you will have spend enought money to buy 10 engines. John
David, all I have is a 2'x4' w/ 2"pink foam on it and mine is based on Stevens Pass here in Washington back in the fifties. The real one has a 2.2% grade on it, but mine has 0%! I'm just gonna let all the details and mountains and streams hide the fact that it's flat! I have about 200 Heki tree's plus some I've made, and hills everywhere! I also have the M-T track in a large oval, plus Marklin switches and track where the bridges are. I couln'dt hold out on running my freights any longer!
For my CSX layout I wanted certain trains, and one of them is a business train. This is the first car.
Hi John, Great work. And a great present too! What did you use for ballast on your layout? I like the coloration and the way it covers the tracks-looks more realistic than most. Best, Michael
Hi Michael, I used Woodland Scenic fine ballast, and painted the rails with PollyS Rust. I also plan to add Polly S black grime to the middle of the track. John
Henrik, I sent your pilot/plow set in the airmail yesterday. It should be 4-7 days what the post office told me. John, is that a GP39-M? It has that roof part that looks like from a GP38 just behind the cab, as Morrison Knudson used on the rebuilds they did to GP30's and 35's in Boise. Grest job! -Robert
Robert, it suppose to be GP39-2, but its 3 feet too short. Also, I forgot to delete the fuel filler. I will fix it with a little black paint, so its not so visible.
I finally have my Waffle car decal with decal made by Tim. The decals looks awesome. They also look great on my CSX gondola.
john, your cars look just great. i recently got to see my first "real" CSX stock while in Birmingham, AL a week or so ago. i did see a lot of gons there. way to go, dave f.
Great work John, you have quite the fleet of csx. Seems like every car you do turns out a little better! Fine work. One day I will get gutsy and give that a try. You know it is funny, I have no problems tearing a loco down anymore, not that much of a problem scratch building, yet I just get freaked out thinking about doing my own decal work. I know I just have to practice like anything, I suppose I remember some of my early N scale disasters with decals.
I remember when i modeled H0 trains,if i had some problems with the locomotive, i just went right down to my LHS so they coud fix it. Now i can de-assemble (and re-assemble) a locomotive without even consider the risk.
What is BLMA ? I need some fans for an attempt to do an Australian diesel and they might also be useful for some of our smaller diesels in N scale . .. Cheers Ben
what is wrong with www.google.com ??? if you type blma, you get the following: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=blma&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Chris
BLMA is "Best Looking Models Around" and they have a line of N and now some Z Scale detail parts to detail your locomotives. Davif F. found that the 36" N Scale fans are 48' in Z Scale so everyone jumped on board and started modifying our MTL GP's to use those fans. They also have 15" and 18" grab irons preformed, which convert to almost 20" and 24" grabs. There are more details available like winshield wipers, and lift rings that can be used also. http://www.nscaleblma.com/
