Here are the details concerning the trade between CSX and LLPX(EMD) which someone had previously reported: CSX will receive 3 GP60's (the original demonstator set EMD 5,6,7 with the "rounded cabs") 3 SD60's, 25 SD70M's (originally EMD 7000-7024) and some SD70 parts. LLPX will receive 3 SW1001's (originally Reading units), 30 SW1500's, 12 GP15-1's, 91 GP38's, and 17 GP40's. Supposedly the GP40's include CSXT 9706, which was originally SAL 624 and is the last active SAL GP40 on the roster. Obviously, CSX is purging its roster of the non-Dash2 models, many of which would have been received from Conrail. This information was reported in the Sept. issue of Trains magazine. While surfing the web tonite, I ran across this page by another user that has more detailed information about the "trade" with a link to some photos: http://www.trainweb.org/moderndiesels/CSXllpxlocotrade.htm Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors! Good info, while i'm not a CSX modeler i do like to keep up with what's going on related to the railroads and such...
Thanks... even though you may not be a fan of a certain road, it seems like anything happening to one road ends up affecting another. In this case, multiple entities have affected others. The GP60's will be a first for CSX, which rosters hundreds of GP40-2's, but never bought any GP50's. This also means the famous demonstrator set will finally have a permanent home. Although CSX had purged its roster previously of most of its GP38's, it received more from Conrail, and now is disposing of them. Many of the locos traded in will be returned to the rails (if servicable) with minimal work as LLPX units, so they could very well show up anywhere! This guy has really got quite a collection of pictures on his website! Use this link, then scroll down the page to Electro Motive Leasing: http://www.jefflubchanskycpa.com/lease.html He has pics of some of the SD60's and SD70's CSX is getting. I'm not sure what the nickname refers to, but it's stenciled on the battery box door on both sides. I'm going to try to build a model of that unit with one of my Proto2000 SD60s. ------------------ Dave Railfanning & modeling modern CSX The MARC Railfan and Modeler Site

Here's some larger shots that Dave had posted links to previously of the "new" GP60's: http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/photos/GP60/6897emd.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/photos/GP60/6898emd.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/photos/GP60/6899emd.jpg Notice that the last unit has white numerals that look "natural" instaed of the yellow patches! Dave actually had a better link to the above photos (and more) if you are patient enough to navigate the site and choose the the larger resolution pics. Interesting, those GP60s still have their mounts for the SP light package. Also they have the porch-mounted ditchlights, dead giveaways to their SP heritage. Wonder if CSX will change them at all? ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W

Quite a few of the SD70m's are in Phosphaste mine service in the Tampa Bay area. Some still carry the original numbers. Also, one of the GP60's was damaged in a collision in Mulberry, FL. How do you send pictures?
Hi Dennis, To post pictures, they need to be uploaded to a website. If you do not have one, you can e-mail them to me at: hhodnett@hotmail.com and I will post them for you! Chessie, Thanks, I appreciate your reply. I do not have a website yet but am planning one. In the meantime if I have a decent picture I will send it along. Thanks again. Dennis [This message has been edited by Dennis (edited 22 December 2000).]
I received my new issue of Diesel Era magazine today (Jan/Feb 2001) and saw a picture of one of the repainted ex-EMD SD70M lease units.... but it is exactly the same picture that were already have posted!
