I am installing some crossovers on my 2 X 4 layout. The question is: Do I need to place insulators between the crossover? or should I block both switches as one block? Thanks, Mark
Depending on what the crossovers are crossing over between makes a big difference in wiring. If you have a dogbone shaped layout and have a crossover you have created a reverse loop. If you have a double track loop and have a crossover you don't. In any case its probably a good idea to insulate on both rails of the crossover. General rule of thumb, put insulated joints on the frog end of turnout. The switch blongs to the track connecting to the points.
