I heard that CP is changing over all their loco's logo to the rodent. They are removing the pacman, two flags and anything else that may be on it and going with the golden beaver. All the SOO units maybe painted over also!!
Anybody else hear of this?

Just rebuilds and new units to the best of my knowledge. I don't think CPR has the time, money or manpower to go and repaint their hole operating fleet, which is around 1450 units with more than anoth 100+ sitting in storage.

Some units, like switchers that will be kept in the fleet for long periods of time and have been rebuilt in the last few years will also get painted. Same deal with 'special units,' that are just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and get some new golden rodent paint.

    G'Day!

    Its all corporate image.........

with the SD40's being phased out.....it makes a waste of capital to repaint a unit. 2 years or so and its gone, not worth the labor or cost to repaint a unit that is not going to be in the fleet in a few years.

common sense if you consider it.

    Logic

    What have you

The Golden Rodent (Beaver) is the current CP scheme, and as these fellows have already mentioned, and will only be applied to those units who get major shop work.

As for the SD40-2s being phased out, it sure doesn't look like it from where I sit! They are the mainstay on the D&H, and I think we've seen two AC4400s (since they have been on the property). We get the SOO SD60s on occasion, but the 40s rule here, and the cab signals are essential for the NYC run.

I heard a lot of the SOO SD60s will be turned back to the lessor starting next January.
