Very nice lashup! I have seen a couple of SD40-2's with yard slugs on thru trains before. Very interesting sight! Harold
So is that SD-38 an Ex Conrail unit too? Or did they mate the slug with a new mother? Also, I'm not familar with the heritage of the Alco slugs, what unit was it originally and why did they swap in the SD trucks?
Yes it's a ex CR SD38, as far as the SD trucks on the slug IIRC it was for parts standardization. I' sure it's easier to find EMD truck parts virsus Alco truck parts.
How is Elkhart on the weekends? I've been there once before, but it was on a Friday afternoon and wasn't too busy. I'd love to get back over there this summer and spend a day near the station there.
Here's a nice couple doing yard work too: A pair of SD9M's! http://hhodnett.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=349238 Harold
LOL - I thought I was going to see somebody's wife laying some ballast..... In the infamous words of ROSANNE ROSANADANA - "nevermind"
