First if this isn't the right place inform me were to go.

I went to an on-line service to help clean-up my pc and have had to return serveral times to take care of issues they seem to create. This time I
am getting a panel along the left side labeled "Related Searches:" When I check properties I get this:

    http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/forumdisplay.php?157-Model-Railroading-Forums

This is very disruptive and would like to know how to get rid of it. I have no desire to go back to the vendor.

Thank you for any help offered.

    Moved to our Support Forum.

I can only guess that through your going to that service, something unwanted was installed on your computer. This will need to be uninstalled or somehow cleaned out. To get rid of whatever it is, you'd need to start by telling us what operating system. Then someone can try talking you through a few ideas for where to chase from, such as via Control Panel.

Do you know how to access your Control Panel? To check for and then uninstall undesired software?

Check there for something which has been installed, related to that specific web site. If you find an item and decide to uninstall, follow instructions, carefully.

Also, run your utilities to flush out unwanted cookies and other stray debris.

If you feel the need for something to help patrol your machine, consider downloading and installing freeware, instead of using the web based sites. The web sites are no more effective than do-it-yourself, and obviously can bring headaches.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found about 12 items and it took 2 hours. I will not use US Tech Support again. They removed all viruse, spyware, malware protection and even ieSpell. I seem to be running fine now and will reinstall my old virus protection.
Thanks again. The other site I go to (GoldWing related) just called me names.

As an American tech support rep, I take offense to that. I would highly recommend thinking about what you say about Americans that put in a lot of hard work. I am constantly told by people around the world that they are willing to pay international charges to speak to us rather than calling tech support in their home country.

As for your issues, run a free anti virus program like AVG and use a secure browser like Firefox. IE is known as an easy way to pick up malware.

I appears that he merely dropped the actual company name. I don't believe he was speaking of Americans in general.

Please consider Microsoft Security Essentials, also free and updated nearly every day. Also consider Malware Bytes, CCleaner, and RegInOut, all of which are free, and updated regularly.

As far as "American Support", I suggest you tone down your rhetoric and consider that perhaps one bad apple does not in any way represent the Customer Service industry. I have been the user of a major computer supplier, both professionally and personally for over 25 years, perhaps THE major American computer supplier to industry and retail. At any rate, after one particular service call handled by a representative from the Indian sub-continent, I was offered an online survey by the parent company concerning that call. I was honest in my reply using declarative sentences without expletives or rants. Surprisingly I received a phone call from the VP Customer Service 2-3 weeks after. In answer to his questions, I explained that the customer representative, although speaking in perfect Schoolhouse English, had no comprehension of the meaning I was trying to convey. I further explained that the representative had no knowledge of the idiomatic vocabulary of the computer industry from which I had retired after nearly 50 years. After about 15 minutes of silent listening, the VP suddenly said "OMG, I understand completely. Thank you, I will correct this problem." I will say to his credit, that his company's Customer Service process was completely changed within 3 months, providing knowledgeable American personnel with the first call connection. Later, foreign nationals were added to the customer service call base, but all the personnel that I dealt with had a full command of idiomatic computer syntax and understood my explanations completely.

if there is a company named US Tech Support, then there was a misunderstanding...I read that as US, as in American

Where did he say "American Support"? The companies name is US Tech Support.

I do agree with using the Microsoft Security Essential as a must.

Yes, there is such a company. Actually, I had hinted about that back in post #9.

People, pleas reread all of the post before you reply.
All forums seem to have way to many: "Post Without Rereading Syndrome".

    Even I, a N-Scale god have done this.[IMG]
