This post is for anyone and every one with pics they have of BNSF coalies, loaded or empty. I would like to invite you to leave your loco(motive) shots, any shots of markings, DPU's etc. I have some shots of coalies from the old York Canyon Mine from Northern NM when ATSF/SP hauled out to and from AZ. Lets see your best shots BNSF FANS!!
One of my favorites of the new image SD70ACe's pulling an eastbound loaded coal train through Bowie, TX.
How about a coal train over Tehachapi? BNSF runs a train over from Barstow, off the UP, to Savage Coal in Wasco. I caught the train in the spring headed up to Bakersfield. Edison is in the background. Kel
I almost missed it, but the second unit is a UP.... Nice shots, guys! I'll chime in with my own shots too, later..
4 bay hoppers.. I have shots in my archives of them.. I'll have to dig around and see where they are at. Kel
The train is hauled by UP from Wyoming to Barstow by the UP, then BNSF takes it from there.. Usually 3-7 days for UP, 12 hours for BNSF.. Kel
I love coal trains, too (remember, I model a coal hauling road), but most of my shots are Ultimate Predator... One of my few BNSF coalie shots, from the Joint Line near Castle Rock, CO:
So close and yet no cigar.. Wjhat a spectacular shot that would have been had the power been a matched pair of GEVOz, and that filthy car just behind the power would have been set out... Either way, very nice shot!
Older Dash-9's in coal service? Wow, non-AC power on coal trains.... That shot of the new GEVOs is sweet, Allan!
On the Mendota Subdivision near Arlington: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=100431 From the Powder River Basin running through Fostoria: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=93962 More from the PRB near Deshler: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=9595
Mendota IL Coalies Westbound Coal at Mendota IL. My first coal train picture there. 2 westbound empties pass through Mendota after the Amtrak clears. If you love BNSF and live in Illinois, Mendota is a great place to railfan a dual main.
More coal in the Heartland. Here are two SD70MAC's pulling out of Galesburg in June of 2006. Check out the repair on the lead unit's cowl. An easily done modeling project. Departing shot at the same crossing, west bound.
