    Hello all!
I am returning to N scale after an absence of 3-4 years. I am returning with more patience and a willingness to spend time on the "process".
I had a few layouts (none getting past the plywood empire stage) which were wired for DCC, I had never built a structure or any scenery and "hated" building benchwork. I have learned patience as I have 2 (twins) preschoolers and a first grader. In my previous modeling I tried to finish everything as quickly as possible. If it was benchwork, finish it in one weekend or if it was wiring, finish it in one day. As most experienced modelers will tell you this doesn't work. Things didn't always work "quite" right.
I also tried to model Milwaukee Road. I was always looking for the N scale Hiawatha that didn't exist! I tried scratch building one with the same speed and no experience, poor results.
I will start this new foray into modeling starting with structures, looking for rolling stock and looking at track plans!
I have an area that is "U" shaped and measures 14' x 17' x 14'. I plan on modeling the 80's in UP and CNW in the small towns of Iowa.
I am a Chicago native who moved to Iowa for a job. My wife and girls have loved the area and even have a horse!

Hello, I am a new member, too! I am well known for my own lack of patience, so I understand completely where you are coming from.

    Hi Trains fans...

Hi every body, i'm new from Montreal , QUebec, and i think that i gonna like your forum...It's seem to have a lot of informations about N Scale and all the thinks....
SO i would like to know something about MRC SYnchro SOund box that i just reveive yesterday....
The many sounds are good enouph for me but one question little booring me....How it's possible to synchronize the diesel sound...?
For the steam sound , it,s ok, i can ajust that , but not for the diesel who seem not possible to go highter more that 45mph.....???

When my loco start to move, she almost get the max "speed sound" that she can get...not more and when i try to slow down the engine, he stop long time far from the Synchro begin to slow down....
SO i try to fix that , but for the moment, it is not satisfaying...
Can you tell me some thing about that...??

SOrry for my poor english, it not my native language..!!!
    :tb-wink:

    GGuy-

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

You might try asking that question in our "DCC & Electronics" Forum. There is some excellent knowledge to tap there.

Welcome to TrainBoard CNWUP, and welcome back to the hobby!

Yes, patients is always key. I've had several setbacks from trying to do things too fast.

By the way, your N Scale Hiawatha is on the way. ;)

    1976mgb, welcome to TrainBoard too!
I think patience (or lack of) can be quickly overcome by experience. If you're constantly plagued by rushing stuff, take the time to find a cheap "starter" project to get all those initial itches out of the way. Then when you come back to your prized focus project, you'll have already made the mistakes you want to avoid and chances are you'll know how to correct them. :)

GGuy, welcome to TrainBoard as well!

I'm not familiar with the Synchro Sound Box, but I'm sure someone else on here is. You might try posting your question to the DCC and Electronics section. With a new thread and matching title more people will see your question. :)

And your English reads perfectly fine to me. ;)

Welcome guys, I back here for my second go around also. Wasn't that I didn't have patience I just didn't have any time. But actually started preping a new room today for the railroad empire.

    I will keep everyone posted.
