Shorpy has a fantastic collection of old super high quality photos, and a lot concerning trains. That one is so clear I think the builders plate says "Schenectady Locomotive Works,," which would be one of the predecessors of ALCO. Thanks for posting that.
There are some superb older photographs on that site! One that I found interesting was from the 1939 NY World's Fair railroad pageant (of which the name escapes me). The clarity of the images is also quite astounding.
