I am fortunate to live in Georgetown which is on a double track CN mainline. What makes it particularly interesting is the old bridge over the credit river. This was built many years ago and it is single track. What a bottleneck. A good train watching spot.

I know what you mean Robin. I live in Cornwall and although most things here are modern, I can still trace some of the old habits that ligered on from the past. Cornwall is at the eastern leg of the 1957 reroute CNR had to perform when the Seaway was constructed and most of the original track is in running order. Even the abandoned right-of-way of NYC is partially CN's Wesco Spur. I just love walking over them and the recently abandoned CP Cornwall Sub, due to the links to the past. I even was able to find relics of all three lines here and saved them. That bridge of your is just another piece of a long ago past that I would love to see. [IMG]
