My wife and I were driving south over the Brent Spence bridge from Cincinnati to home in Northern Kentucky last Saturday. Since she was driving, I decided to try and grab an over the shoulder shot of the B&O warehouse. It’s similar to B&O warehouse incorporated into Camden Yards ballpark in Baltimore. I’m worried we might not have it for much longer. A new companion bridge to the Brent Spence is going up somewhere nearby. My understanding is that the warehouse may need to be partially if not entirely torn down to make room for the new bridge. Hoping I’m wrong.
Neat shot! These facilities were enormous, reflecting a period when everything moved by rail, CL and LCL. It's almost unimaginable today, and to think that all of these shipments were tracked with reams of paper forms, with vast armies of people working to assure things made their way to the customer without loss or damage. With boxcars stretched toward the horizon, this was the B&O's facility at Cincinnati.
