Ironically no, it was clearing the cars out of the way so that they could rerail the power set of 1117/3057 (Cab Car/GP38-2). After it had derailed in the CN St Thomas yard at the interchange.

Didnt even know how close we were to one another. Till a few days later.

When he got us there, we were doubling up a slight grade. The road crossing has a stop sign for us. We have to stop and see if all protection is working. So once we stopped, our little engine that couldn't-couldn't pull 14 grain cars! So around this time we split them in half.

The pac-man guy needs to eat more dots. :D

Driver8 - do you use that crossing regularly? It seems like that full stop rule would cause all kinds of confusion with the automobile "drivers" - seeing you come to a full stop they would think you are going to back up or just stay there and then start crossing the tracks

That crossing is a confusing one, the engine is normally in plain sight before the flashers go off. It is used quite a bit, and is on the main street here in town. Both CP/CN use it, as it is CN's only way to get to the CASO sub in St Thomas.

As Blake said, the GP9u had a hard time with the cut, as the grade is against them. Coming from a full stop on grade with 1750 hp and the cars can be a bit of a problem.
