The Cascade Rail Foundation Board of Directors is evaluating the feasibility of acquiring Milwaukee Road U25B #5057 for display at the South Cle Elum Rail Yard Interpretive Center. Part of this evaluation includes estimating the total cost of purchasing, restoring, moving, and displaying the locomotive. Another part of this feasibility evaluation is determining how much support exists from potential contributors. We've posted a statement on our web site that explains more about how the 5057 would fit into our overall plans for developing the interpretive center and what we currently think it would take to bring the 5057 to South Cle Elum. http://www.milwelectric.org/2011/10/crf-exploring-acquisition-of-milwaukee-road-locomotive/ We invite you to read this statement and give us feedback. Are you willing and able to be part of the team that brings this important part of Milwaukee Road history home to Washington? If so, we'd like to hear from you in the next few weeks. You can contact me directly at kruegerp@nwlink.com. We plan to make a decision about moving forward with this project at our next Board meeting on October 27. The current owner of the 5057, Feather River Rail Society, needs an answer from us. Please share this with others you know who may be interested in this project.
