Here is a cantilever signal structure for a two track main line. I had to combine two panoramic photos to get the complete signal and that is the line across the middle. The second photo is the form used to pour the concrete foundation. The top section is fiberglass and is the only part removed after the concrete has set. They are full of rebar and take 3 to 5 yards of cement depending on the size of the cantilever signal. The right side of the form is the track side of the foundation.

Excellent pictures Gil, not that often you see such clean and groomed ballast. I will have to try and take some photographs of our new LEd gantry signals we have been installing around our area.

The left track and turnout are new track for a new station called Tamien in South San Jose, CA. The track on the right has just recieved new ties and ballast and was surfaced in connection with the new station. The photos were taken about 1993. This is the former Southern Pacific coast line from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The left track is now owned by the Joint Powers Board and operated by Amtrak for commuter service between Gilroy and San Francisco. The right track is owned by Union Pacific.

Good detail, Gil. It is nice to see some relatively new infrastructure.

Note that the new fiberglass relay house has been visited bt the taggers. This happened less than a week after it was set.
