    Turntable 1.27.18b.jpg View attachment 188584 Hi Snoopy47,
Your layout is looking good. I have the same size and shape layout you do. I have a double track mainline and decided on a curved through yard. The turntable is in the center of the layout. I'm using Unitrack and will use flex track for the leads to the turntable and other needed spots.

WOW! that is a looking really nice. After seeing your setup, I wish I had done my turntable like you did.

Thanks. There are limitations to the dog bone with a double main. I was able to run the yard off the outer line, but most of the sidings and branches will come off the inner line since I don't have the room on the outer. With the double main I can run two trains in continuous running or I can also use the inner line as a siding. Still trying to figure out the final options.

Shortround, thanks for your service. I was Navy and served in Vietnam from 66-68 on coastal patrol.

My Dad (1943-2017) was on the USS Forrestal (1963-1964). He was in the crash crew as a pilot rescueman. He spent some time over in the Tonkin Gulf.

I am toying with the idea of going to a single main with sidings. The double mainline really limits spurs and some scenery options. The nice thing about Unitrack is I can change the track plan pretty easily. I was daydreaming about running a branch line through the wall into the bedroom closet next door. The wife will be out of town next week.............

Double track mainline is nice for just watching trains, but if you do single track with passing sidings you get more action as you have to arrange for trains to meet each other. The single track seems more operational to me.

I'd love to see more photos as these layouts progress.

Thanks Geeky. Just finished taking out the inside track. I think I can run one siding behind some scenery for passing or for a place for trains to go.
