Some progress on the grain elevator. Still needs top conveyor housings and further detailing before painting.
Sometimes I feel as though dominating, (large), structures tend to shrink the overall feel for size of a layout. Do you think this might come into play, as time moves ahead?
Don't think so Ken. Before I added three more silos it looked too small. When seen on the layout it looks fine. Alan www.andersley.co.uk
A short operating session produced the attached pictures. The RSC2 has arrived leaving the single track clear for the RS3 to depart.
Are those the walthers Kit? I have a couple different Tank car kits including a few of the Walthers LPG kits. They all end up at the back of my to do list, because they annoy me so very much to assemble. Tank cars are one of the few items I always am willing to buy assembled for a few more bucks. Kudos to some good looking cars.
Yes, Walther's. I got two off eBay at a VERY advantageous price and he threw in another free as it had a couple of bits missing, neither of which matter! Not as pleasant to assemble as Intermountain kits! Alan www.andersley.co.uk
You made those look good which isnt easy with some of those older kits Thanks for taking the time to post pics of your work!!
A BN freight arrives at Andersley from South Lewistown to exchange cars before heading to Great Falls.
I have been following this thread for quite a while and apologize for not putting my 2 cents in, so here it is. OUTSTANDING, a 10+. Excellent work. I can see where this layout can easily keep you busy for hours. Love switching layouts. I can see so many switching problems here. When I was riding with my relatives back in the 50's and 60's, I usually went on through trains between Harlowtown, MT to Deer Lodge, MT and occasionally down to Avery, ID but did on occasion go out with them on a local run. I can remember the train crew having to figure out what they were going to do when they came to a town and had to switch out car to different industries. I guess I really took it for granted on how much work it was until I had my own layout going. I also purposely built switching problems into each town on the layout and some 50 years or so later can appreciate how difficult the job could be. You have yourself a winner here.
Many thanks for the comments. Yeah, switching problems were purposely built in to make things 'interesting'! Eventually when all industries are finished I will have a sort of switching system so that some industries are switched every train, some every other train, some every third train, etc. Alan www.andersley.co.uk
