Thanks, I feel like I have come to a stall point. My self made schedule for getting this section completed has fallen behind.

Don't get discouraged Kevin. It is natural to have lulls, I have put away modeling projects for years just because I just didnt "feel it", if that makes any sense. Thats is what makes this a great hobby for me is there is so many aspects to it from the electrical, woodworking, scenery (my least favorite BTW) painting an so on. One can almost always find his or her modeling mojo again after a bit. I have walked away from my layout for months at a time. Then all of a sudden I look at the clock and it's 2AM on a project I dreamed up and just had to get done o_O. Some of my best times out there have been overcoming my design shortfalls :)

I have all the supplies to complete two sections. One thing that kept bothering me is where to put a car show. I’ve moved it three times now.

This was a pain in the butt—never again will I do this. The round house tracks are in. Just needs wiring and ballast now.[IMG][IMG]

You been busy Kevin! Looks good, kinda busy but looks good!
What kind of wheel stops you plan on using on all those tracks?

Well half of this will be static display. A museum with my dads stuff. Tomorrow I pull the pins out and start wiring and then ballasting. The other half of the tracks including the round house will be powered for my stuff.

My intermodal train. The two Walthers mainline cars are trailer flats. I have one trailer for sure to put on it. I will have to dig around. I should have a fed ex truck somewhere with a trailer as well that might fit, if not....

Also one of the containers I ordered ended up on back order. The Walthers Provo cars are all metal. Not sure about the three Atlas cars. [IMG]

Here is the inspiration for my layout. This is the one my dad built back in the 1970’s and mid 80’s. He passed away in 1995. This is the Dorado and silver mountain railroad. It is free lanced and based in the 1930’s so it was steam. This is also HO. This layout is only 5’ x 10’. I also have a video but can’t figure out how to upload it.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Since this is DC this was a throttle kinda that regulated the power to the track. There used to be several knobs that did this but as they burned up or broke he came up with this idea. He was an electrical engineer by trade. I was lost as he wired this thing. Still am. He used all the same color wire to wire the whole thing. All red.

Too bad it wasn’t mounted horizontally! That would have been cool!

To run this layout took two hands. Each hand on a toggle switch

    Hi Kevin,
First of all your dad had a great MRR. It's all DC so to me it is soooo much simpler than DCC in that always there is 1 common rail and one hot rail, no matter were you are on it, so all one color is OK you just gotta see which is common.

Now, the video must be uploaded to youtube or the like, and then a link to it copied and pasted here. Stop by sometime and I will show you what to do.
