I need suggestion on how to change the brushes in a Marklin engine. My first attempt was total failure. I could not get the brushes to go in the right way. I have a old engine that needs a good cleaning. After all its only 20 years old and never had a cleaning, so its a perfect engine for my experiment. If it doesn't work, It will make a perfect museum piece.
    Thank You

I have only taken brushes out of the BR89 0-6-0, but it was easy. What loco is it? [IMG]

Robert, I think its model 260, its the 6 wheel shunter that came with the starter set. It takes a lot of juice to get it to run. I hope that with some cleaning it can run smoothly. Thank You

I think all you have to do is use tweezers to remove them, but you need a good exploded diagram for the locomotive in question to see how they go in.

I don't know if there are individual diagrams out there but here is a link to a .pdf file that has all the Marklin Z mechanisms in it, so you can sort through to find the exploded diagram for your loco:

    I hope this helps,
    Robert
