Hi Ski,I have placed preorders online with BLW for LL FA1's . I read in the forums how everyone was receiving their's except me . I then called and they had no record of my online confirmation . They did not act too suprised by this either which worried me . I have several preorders with them for LL c424's , Kato RDC's all of which I phone in for confirmation even after receiving back an email confirmation .They did straighten out the lost order but I was lucky on limited runs they may not have the stock to replace the items whiched they missed. I would reccomend calling them ASAP! The number is 732-446-2639.

    Good luck !

I have ordered online from BLW on several occasions. They ship UPS, and usually, fairly quick, however, they don't always have the item in stock even though their web site says they do :(

I've been dealing with BLW for several years now and have only had one or two minor glitches. I typically order via the web. The SD90s I ordered last September(?)via the web arrived Monday via UPS, their shipper of choice. Mr. Postel has been most gracious on the few occasions I've called, and will respond to email. But they are not a huge organization and when new product is shipped to them, it gets very hectic as they attempt to serve their customers.

If you will look of BLW's site, last week Pete Postel said more new merchandise showed up last week from Kato, Atlas, and Con-Cor than has ever shown up at once before. He did say he would be very busy until at least the 11th just getting out previous orders. He is usually extremely responsive, but like most small enterprises, gets behind now and then. I have had nothing but excellent results dealing with BLW. Sure, everyone makes a mistake now and again, but Pete Postel has always promptly taken care of any made by BLW. ;)

Well I tried to call today a few times and kept getting a busy signal...and the loco (new BNSF H2 SD-60M) I ordered on Monday is listed as out of stock as of this afternoon on the BLW webpage. I wonder if I am getting one or not?

    Guys,
Before heading to eBay, try calling woo woo woo Klien's in Baltimore. They are listed in the back of MRR. I was in there last Thursday and they had both BNSF SD60M's for $59.99. They are a good source with just about everything at good prices.

Standard disclaimers. No affiliation except my money. :D

I would like to second woo woo woo woo woo woo out of Baltimore Maryland . They give excellent service and they have a person devoted to running the Nscale part of the shop . Just ask for Shane in the Nscale department . They do get backed up in the ordering department however but if you order you do get .

I have had great success ordering from BLW. I used their web site to pre-order some SD80MAC's, and they arrived a couple of days ago. One thing to note is that when you do the web order thing, it will e-mail you a confirmation number. SAVE THAT E-MAIL>! Right now, I have a dispute with Wisconsin N Scale because I ordered some things from their website (that uses the web cart system similar to BLW), but did not receive them. When I e-mailed the company, I was told they never got the order. When I e-mailed them the confirmation, they finally admitted that the order was received in their secure order line, but they "did not get an e-mail about it". (And I guess that is how they tried to avoid responsibility for their mistake). Finally they said, we are (now) sold out of what you ordered, so I cancelled your order! That is the poorest customer service I have ever seen! You'd think after they sat on my order for 2 weeks, then begrugdingly admitted there was a mistake, that they'd at least try and rectify the problem they caused, but nooooo  I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but am greatly dissatisfied with their (lack of) customer service.

Yes, they do advertise in N Scale Magazine, I think they may do MR... I have bought a lot from them in the past, although I am somewhat dismayed that they do not have a website. They do have a toll-free # 1-888-872-4675. As someone previously stated, ask for Shane in the N scale department... he is a great resource!

If you are looking for good service, good prices, and a good website, you must check out N Scale Supply: http://www.nscalesupply.com/

I purchased my first N scale equipment, a Rapido 0-6-0-T and two 4 wheel passenger cars from M. B. woo woo woo in Baltimore back in 1965 or 1966. They have been in business at the same location in downtown Baltimore for a VERY long time! Back then, the store was still a hardware store with a train department. They do advertise in both "Model Railroader" and "N Scale". Their shipping is a lot lower than the others, too. But, they do not have a website or publish a newsletter indicating what they have in stock. Better get out your reading glasses, the print in M. B. woo woo woo's ads is really small.

I second randy and Gregg on woo woo woo woo woo woo, I have ordered from them off and on for 25 years. Excellent service, no inflated claims or sensationalism to drum up sales like BLW and probably about the best prices around on Lifelike. I am disappointed on lack of a website and they often do not respond to email inquiries.

I have also ordered from BLW, great prices aand selection, but I too have had items cancelled that they said were available on the website as well as order 2 and only receiving one of an item, And being charged $2 more fore an item than website price.

I use MBKLEIN all the way from Australia. During the past four year quiet a bit of my money has gone to there coffers. The service as already described is generally very good. I am in the process of resolving some differences on previous orders and Shane has been very helpful and has certainly maintained my business and has resolved the problems.

BLW has been rude and arrogant, they claim they will not ship overseas, after ordering online, I waited three months to find this out in a one line statement.

For mine the best shops I have dealt with being an international buyer are as follows. This is not a rating, just good service from these businesses certainly helps me want to endorse these shops to other international Nscalers..

    a. M.B. woo woo woo
    b. Tex n Rails
    c. Rio Grande Hobbies
    d. Tony's Trains
    e. Nscale Supply
    f. Pacific Scale Rail

I have used a few others in the US, but I regularly buy from the first two as they have good stock and good service and competitive pricing.

Two weeks ago, I asked Atlas a question about the shells of the RS-3. I didn't hear a word from them.

Last week, I ordered an undecorated RS-3 shell through the BLW web page, I received a confirmation email the next day. The package arrived USPS Priority Mail about 7 business days later...not bad service if you ask me.

I have ordered through the web before with BLW, and I will in the future.

I've been dealing with Pete Postel (owner of BLW) since the late 1970's in his early days as a custom painter of N locomotives, a sideline he started to supplement his income as a teacher.

He has since married and now runs BLW as a full time business.

I haven't chatted with Pete lately but to my knowledge BLW is a one-person operation. He has taught himself HTML and Java to update his website and is among the best on posting new N product announcements right away.

As do many on-line businesses, BLW uses a safe, secure "shopping cart" system which collects the internet orders and payment information.

Although it appears to operate in near real-time to the person placing the order, the "results" of the days orders don't show up at the BLW office until the following day. The previous day's sales have to be posted to inventory and the website updated. So there may be an occasional instance where an item says "in stock" on the website and it is "sold out".

With thousands of items to stock (and restock) it is not a 100 percent perfect system. But I have never had a problem getting an adjustment or substitution, or whatever action was needed to "make it right".

In our electronic age some of us send an email and expect an intstant reply. But if you logged on to your email system and found 127 messages there; plus the day's orders to pull, process and package for shipment; updating all the webpages on the website; composing, setting up, publishing and mailing a monthly newsletter; answering the phone calls and the FAXes; and now the UPS truck is here 24 big cartons of new merchandise to unload, unpack, log in, inspect, and put on the shelf, could you do all those at once? Could you, really?

Pete is obviously doing something right. He has been in business over 20 years, and is one of the pioneer N specialty dealers, both by mail order and on the internet, and continues to expand and improve the business and support our hobby.

Yes, there are other good N shops out there, but BLW is right up there among the best.

I deal with BLW, TEX N RAILS, regularly. No problems. Yes I might not get all of what I order, but I don't put all the blame on the dealer. What with short runs, limited runs etc.
I guess I am very lucky to have 2 local hobby shops that want my business. Sure I might have to pay a couple of bucks more, both of these shops have supported my local N-Scale club and local NMRA Division with door prizes, club discounts, and clear out specials. I strongly believe in supporting your local Hobby Shop.
