On June 24, 2010 two different areas along the BNSF (soon to be NMDOT) tracks were washed out by flooding arroyo's and heavy rain South of Wagon Mound and South of Las Vegas. The Amtrak SW Chief has been cancelled until Monday June 28, 2010 due to track repair.

400-500 feet of track were washed out about 5:00pm about 28 miles South of Wagon Mound. Another 500 feet of track were washed out about 27 miles South of Las Vegas, NM as the Pecos River rose above its flood levels.

There was a ballast train idle in Watrous, NM lastnight with a single Dash 9 and 10 ballast cars. One of BNSF's Track Measurement trains was idle in the BNSF Las Vegas yard.

Too bad that the track was damaged BUT I got to see some BNSF train action, even if they were parked!!!!

BNSF seems to have been hit in many places with this last storm system. Washouts and slides in Montana as well.
