Here is N scale BNSF GP9 TT #1685 The model is an Atlas GP9 TT, I relocated the horns to the long hood, and filled in the holes in the short hood. I added a winterization hatch (from Atlas). The plow, M.U. hoses, and a firecracker antenna, are from Sunrise. I used Badger Modelflex paint, Microscale decals, and Testors Dullcoat mixed with Testors Airbrush thinner. I used the airbrush for the semi-gloss finnish on the model, as the prototype was painted in June of 1999. Very light weathering on the plow and couplers. I had fun building this rare engine. Jim
You forgot to mentention, it got FIRST PRIZE-LOCOMOTIVE at the Urbana Model Train Show this year! Congrats! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX! Brent Tidaback
Looking good, although of course I prefer blue, but that's jus' me. Let me ask, what decals did you use for the number boards? I never liked the way MicroScale worked for me, so I use ShellScale for those, and I'm just curious about your experience.
I'm really impressed how well N-gauge dresses up and photographs! I'm considering moving over to N from HO ... I could have twice as much operation in the same space! Nice entry! Bill "Get Goosed on the Yreka Western"
Ironhorseman, come on over to N! The best scale - you will not regret it ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com http://eurogallery.homestead.com
Alan .. thanks for the invite! However, it would be extremely difficult for me to abandon years of hand-laid code 70 and code 55 rail for my HO and HOn3 pike. However, I have also considered crossing over to S gauge where the standard HO will work for Sn3 and the HOn3 might work for a 2 foot gauge. However, I have never seen a two foot gauge in S, so maybe I would have to scratch build one eh? ~wink~ But I am very impressed with N. And I understand there is more and more equipment and models coming out every day. I'll not close my mind to it! ) Bill "Get Goosed on the Yreka Western"
Our contest ends April 30. We will announce our "winner" within a few days following. A reminder that the contest is not as much about winning or losing as it is just to see these wonderful works that all of you have created. Our Moderators will be the judges and will attempt to judge based on the photos but not on the actual quality or size of the individual photo. Charlie ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO!
