I get over to Lawton , Oklahoma every once in awhile, which has UP service of some sort-Goodyear plant among others. I have been seeing a lot of ,either solid blue or almost solid blue with small white stripes, locomotives lashed up to UP locos or pulling UP consists alone. I have never seen any logos on them, just numbers in white or black sometimes. Anyone know what they are?
Also, there is talk about a huge coal-fired power plant being built there, which, I suppose, should increase traffic some. (Just what we need out here in our clean-achooo!- air!)

Without further description, I will guess that what you saw were private company lease units. Many capital leasing companies own fleets of second hand locomotives that they lease to various railroads on short term contracts, and most of these lease units wear very generic colors and markings (long term leased units, like UP's new SD70M's are painted and lettered for the leasing railroad). Next time you see these units, look closely and note the number and whether the unit carries a leasing company's reporting marks (examples: GATX, FURX, CEFX, EMDX, GECX, LRCX, etc...). Sometimes, the reporting marks are very small or hard to read. With this information, someone will likely be able to identify the units for you.
