Two week ago I visited Craig in his BLMA Office. The shipments of the new Tank cars are already overtaken by Atlas. That’s the reason some of you have to wait a little bit longer. Bit its worth to wait for them they are great! I have seen there are some new Cars in the Pipeline: I al locking forward to them. The Prototypes are great again!
Funny! I actually can't believe w cheap these are selling for. They are the same price as the vintage Roundhouse acid tank cars Athearn is selling right now. The Athearn cars have no brake piping, or any details for that matter. Score one for BLMA/Atlas.
Bottom line to this whole thing is Craig did it right. Now the gauntlet has been thrown to Atlas - let's see if they, too, can do it right. And for those who want less detail, there's always Bachmann...and several others. I'm modeling a railroad. Craig understood folks like me. Matt at FVM is another one. There are a few. And I will support them.
I haven't seen them yet on any of the sites, but maybe they are waiting to release them about time for the N Scale Convention ??
Ya snooze ya lose - but you might be able to find some with a bit of searching - the Bay and other places - I did find some in about two minutes... And Atlas has announced a second run available in I think November, but with 24 cars each (and all black) of two NEW road names - which means I won't have a 48 car black crude train with TILX cars... You need to understand that in the current business model you have ABOUT three days to get your order placed (assuming your shop has an online inventory) - which means you have to haunt your favorite pusher's site on a very regular basis - if you want specific roadnames and/or numbers - and buy literally the second you see the item in stock. Otherwise you get sloppy seconds. There is a release coming of something I want badly - so I am checking my pusher's site morning and evening, and will pull the trigger the moment I spot them. Or you can pre-order (which I abhore, too many horror stories).
http://www.atlasrr.com/Mobile/mN/n31ktankcar.htm I see the preorder is available from my preferred preorder vendor.
WOW at that rate I guess I won't be getting to much of anything; since I have other things to do than checking behind things like that. Boy have things changed. Once again glad I'm about done with the buying end of our hobby. Thanks for the info though. Bay prices aren't worth it to me; I'd rather do without.
