The layout shown here has been under construction for 25 years, with all of its technical equipment having been built twice, first analogue and later digital. In the middle is the legendary Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin, which was Berlin's gateway to the world for around 80 years. In front of it is its depot. While the station was blown up in the 1950s, the depot now houses the German Museum of Technology, in which a 30m long H0 model of the entire system is on display. A partly four-track line runs around my layout's room, with the Friedrichstrasse and Bellevue stations representing a small and large station on the city railway. The long-distance trains circle the room twice, once in the wake of the city railway and once separately. The figure 8 intersects at "Ostkreuz". Next door to it can be found the Rixdorf freight station. In the meantime, the new photo background of the "Berlin Friedrichstraße" layout is completely finished and offers the train, which we accompany with sometimes busy traffic on the four-track city railway, a spacious panorama. You can follow the progress of the project in my blog at https://www.stummiforum.de/t136101f3-Berlin-Bahnhof-Friedrichstrasse-in-Spur-Z.html what requieres registration to see the pictures. Axel, Beautiful layout! Love the architectural details and the way the backdrop is blended into the scenery. Fantastic modeling! Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the video. Scott
Axel, Excellent work! Having been to Berlin and the exciting Technology Museum, I love this layout you've built! I love Berlin! We took the ICE there in 2012 for a family vacation. I once lived in Kaiserslautern for 5 years. I loved my time in Deutschland!
Watched some of your videos... Outstanding. Particularly like 15 - BW Anhalter Bahnhof and 44 Das Schweineschnäuzchen. Gotta love it! Maybe due to my fondness for short locos and rolling stock?
The Schweineschnäuzchen (Little pig's snout) ist not the smalles loco here. This video starts with a Köf 2. It is not digitizable but running with a 3mm motor and a 1:88 gear. And V36 is a proof of the capabilities of Alex from Ucraine who is a specialist for the most challenging tasks of z scale digitization.
Something different today. 27 - Brass treasures The freight and passenger cars shown were made around 15 years ago. They are all 1:220 scale and made of brass and nickel silver. Here you can also see further steps in the assembly and labeling.
Just to explain: This is a ferryboat wagon for traffic between Great Britain and the mainland with the smaller British clearance gauge and the British induced draught brake. Here as a sliding roof wagon but exists like this for other purposes too.
Since Mark mentioned it already here is also easy access to Video 15 - Depot Anhalter Bahnhof Hace a nice weekend.
Really outstanding ! Aussergevöhnlich !! I love these prototypical broad curves ! BTW which brand of track and turnouts are you using ? And could you put us here your trackplan ? Dom
Hi Dom, tracks are Peco SL-200, invisible turnouts from Märklin. The others had been handmade by JHM more than 20 years ago. When replacing anything new turnouts come from Weichen Walter (Völklein Modellbau). They are all individually. Currently i am waiting on two suspenders (is this the right english word for a crossing with four turnouts around it?) The initial plan from 1999 does not show the current situation and it is pencil on bad paper. Just the depot and the situation underneath got a new schema. This here
Thanks Axel. Very nice hand-drawn trackplan indeed (and very interresting, at all). BTW what are the minimum curve radii (at least in the visible areas) on your layout ? Dom
Take Traincontroller schema instead Block schema and parts of underground Anhalter Bahnhof (Main Station) Depot Rixdorf (Freight) Friedrichstraße (giving the name of the project)
Good ! My future layout, which will be my future retiree's work, will be done with 50 cm-radius curves as well. Dom
