BNSF hires locally at the terminals which are in need of personnel at any given time. Trainmen are trained locally at the terminal for which
they are hired. Only engineers, yardmasters, dispatchers and mechanical
department people are trained at NARS. Some small carriers will still send their new hire trainmen to NARS, but not BNSF.
Go to BNSF.com and follow the menu. It will tell you exactly where and
for what they are currently hiring.

I've been to London twice, when the exchange rate was a little higher ($2.20 - 1 Pound, we have no little L key). My experience on day to day items is the cost is the same. If lunch costs you $5 here, it costs 5 Pound s for the same lunch there. If a coke costs $0.75 here, it costs $0.75 Pounds over there.

I don't know about big items, houses, cars, things like that...but I always found the small things exchanges interesting.

    Hi Ron,
I am a British Citizen living in New Jersey USA. I used to work for British Rail / EWS from 1981 to 2000. I was a 2nd man at Severn Tunnel Jcn until 1986 then got my Job at Manchester Picadilly. I then transferred to Hereford for 4 years and Newport until I left the railway in 2000.
I work as a mechanic right now but just interviewed with Norfolk Southern for a conductors position. They made me a job offer and i just had a physical and background check. I hope to be contacted in the next week or 2 with a start date.
I never thought i'd go back to the rails but after 6 years away i'm more than ready. The working conditions here are worse than in the UK but the pay is certainly better.
The cost of living here is substantially less too. Gasoline (petrol) is only $2 a gallon and i bought a brand new Mustang GT car for less than $25,000 . I am about to buy a new Chevy Cobalt for $12,000, equivalent to a Vauxhall Corsa (how much are they new over there)

I'll let you know how it works out.

This bring's me to question after reading all this and being disgusted with what I heard about BNSF's terms and agreements. Anyone know anything about the hiring process of KCS?
