Most of the damage was cosmetic so they should be able to repair it, just depends on time and money. NEGS had purchased an MP15 as the GP39-2 was a bit big for the operations. Business had been good, but trackage rights over Pan Am/Guilford expired this past winter. NEGS only has a few customers in Concord and one in Tilton.

Here in Leipsic, Ohio a couple of people got killed when they were walking by the tracks, everyone was so mad at the railroad. I honestly was in disbelief when i heard they were angry. I wanted to yell: THATS WHY THERE ARE NO TRESSPASSING SIGNS!!!!!!!!!:tb-mad::tb-mad::tb-mad:

We live in an age where there is no personal responsibility. People build houses by airports and complain of noise, people build houses in the woods and spend thousands of dollars on landscape and complain that the dear are eating their trees/shrubs. The snowmobilers have said it wasn't their fault, regardless they were trespassing.

You are so correct. Add to that how too many people have no common sense. What makes it even worse is they are able to find and retain legal representation to argue about the alleged noise, etc.

Example- The railroad has been there for one hundred and forty years, the newbie resident moved in six months ago and now starts complaining and suing. Before you buy, you are supposed to check it ALL out and they obviously did not- That's failure to do due diligence. Yet the railroad ends up coughing up money for legal costs and then all kinds of cash for "silent" zones, etc, etc. All because Joe Homebuyer was simply stupid. No wonder this country is falling apart.

I wonder how many instances there have been of derailments where money needed for ties, etc, etc, was scalped off by cases like these? Then those same locals have enough nerve to complain about safety...

Over here, the London (Waterloo) - Southampton - Bournemouth - Weymouth line has third rail electric power, like most of the rest of southern England. Every year we get a few people - usually folk on holiday in the New Forest but some locals as well - who think the best way back from an evening in the bar is to walk along the track, drunk of course, and then they get fried. If such people had even one brain cell each, they'd be considered "gifted".

    Regards,

Winners of the Darwin Award - grand prize: extinction.

There are stupid people everywhere and they expect everyone else to pay for their low neuron counts. Lawyers are all too glad to take up their causes just because it fattens their wallets. And that just encourages more idiocy - why bother with common sense if one can be a complete oaf and get paid for it?

And for me, train noise is music to my ears. It's the hecklers and complainers that spoil the concert.

Sometimes you can see people playing on the MoW equipment down on the siding, AT NIGHT! There are some people that are hopelessly lost in life. Railroad property isn't public, would you want someone spray painting on your car? No! so don't do it!

I've pointed out this hypocrisy to a fair number of vandals. Reaction ranges from 'oops. I never looked at it that way,' (very few awaken thus), to threats of bodily harm. Amazing how it's OK for them to do it, but let the reverse happen and it's all wrong. Talk about brainless, stupid...
