so being new to Z-scale ... I have to ask.

what do people think of the Aztec Mfg. rail-cleaner cars?

    http://www.aztectrains.com/pages/TrackClean-NZ.html

are these helpful in keeping one's track clean? are they a good addition (but not a complete solution?)

they are just micro-trains cars with new floors, yes?

    please share!

    Thanks,

    G

Yes, MT with new floors. Heavy. Body mount couplers. MT trucks. I paint mine Maint of way and pull one on every train. I have a controlled environment, so I don't have much of a dirty track problem. I hope the Aztec cars help some.

The Aztec cars work well. We operate them during shows to pick up the built up grime and it seems to work.

The real secret though is using a Gaugemaster. These electronic devices really help the engines along and prevent stalling and poor running from dirty track. Though they are called electronic track cleaners, they really only prevent the dirt on the rails from impairing performance. I still clean my track, though far less often then I did before using these devices.

I have tested mine with locomotives from AZL, MTL and Marklin with no problems.

Note, you do not need this device if you are using DCC.

z track is a dealer. Just go their web site and look for Gaugemaster.

I used a similar item several years ago. I thought it was good for 30-40 feet of track next to the power source. You could see it spark when the wheels touched some dirt on the track and it did keep the track clean.

    Hi Gordon! Welcome to Trainboard!

I have the Z Scale car, that I build a custom shell for, and put Nn3 trucks on. I use it for my Z Scale track, but it looks like an N Narrow Gauge car. :D
