Thx Hemi. OT for a bit here, I've started my own business producing RTR DCC equipped loco's in N of Australian outline loco's and rolling stock and i would like to do Aus versions of the US loco's. If theres a market i'll do them. Mitchell
That's one sweet project. Don't forget to post more pictures when you're done (or even some more in progress ones).
I've been so darn busy with travel and work that I just haven't sat down and ordered supplies for the decal printer. I'll do that this week and see if I can get this one finally wrapped up. -jamie
jamie, did you ever show us pictures of the finished engine... ? (...I have to paint three SD90MAC soon in the same scheme that's why I did dig up this old thread)
I still have the name boards below the engineer window to decal, but here is where it was left at before I got distracted by a million other projects... I have the artwork done in Adobe Illustrator (I can export .eps files among other things) if anyone wants a heads up on the graphics. I suggest having the bubbles on the sides cut by a vinyl cutter at a sign shop and save yourself the major aggravation of trying to cut them out by hand! Soon as someone does an SD70ACE in n-scale I'll paint one up prototypical. This came through Chicago here last year undergoing testing. So you *could* run it here in the U.S. and get away with it... -jamie
BHP Update This is my first post - I came across this site whilst looking for a HO model of the General Pershing Zephyr for our restaurant (if anyone out there can help it wouild be greatly appreciated!) Nice work with the AC-6000 model - looks exactly like the real thing. BHP now no longer uses SD-40's on any mainline trains although we still use them for work trains. The SD-40's were never fitted with Locotrol so they were only ever slave units anyway. If you need any more photos or whatever I can possibly help - I'm a Mainline Driver for BHP based in Hedland. The Silver Star is now a cafe/restaurant in Port Hedland (opened last year). It's my wife's business - she leases it from FORM which is a managing agent for BHP. And you probably already know that 6070 (an AC-6000 in that bubble livery you did your model in) was unfortunately damaged in a derailment a couple of months ago and will now be scrapped. Maybe you could decal yours as 6070 ("Port Hedland") as a homage to this write-off? I'm told that 4301 (one of our SD-70's which was also damaged in the derailment) will be brought back to town and repaired.
G'day, I haven't seen a HO scale version of the Silver Star style observation/parlour car. There was an N Scale version by Kato, or you could kitbash the Silver Star from a dome observation car and passenger car. I wuld be kean to to see some of your pics as I am sure others would (aplogies for any typo's "o" key is failing) Cheers, Hendo QLD
If you don't mind "close enough" this may meet your needs http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH7925 cheers, Hendo
