Does anyone produce engines in the 1950's ATSF Zebra paint scheme? I hav an RS-1 but it is painted in the 1960s "yellowbonnet" scheme. Any help would be great!! Happy Modeling!! John
I can swear somebody did an N scale Alco in Zebra scheme. It may be and S-2 or something like that, but I know I've seen one before. Yep, found it. Atlas RSD 4/5 in Zebra Stripe, #s 2102, 2138, list for $85. Walthers has them listed as sold-out, but has a list of the most recently shipped hobby shops. Here's a quick link to the search I used.
Corey, What would I do without you !?! Thanks for the info!! Happy Modeling!! John P.S. Check arrive yet?
Arrived today, no problem about the delay. It's earmarked for my SD90MACs that are due out in April anyway, so no hurry. Lemme know when you send the final one.
John, Atlas also offered the RS-1 and GP7 ph I (or was it ph II?) in zebra stripes. Both are hard to find, but National Capital Trains has them listed on their site (which hasn't been updated since October). Also, the Life-Like SW9/1200 came in zebra stripes during the first run. Again, it'll be hard to find. Btw, N Scale Supply has the RSD-4/5 available with both numbers for $58 each. Dwight

How about the old Minitrix FM H-12-44? Was it offered in zebra stripes? Or the Model Power RSD-15? Dwight [ 14 February 2001: Message edited by: Dwightman ]
ConCor did some repaints on Undec Minitrix locos 10-12 years ago. I believe they did do the ATSF Zebra scheme on the FM H12-44 with white stripes. I can never keep it straight in my mind which units wore white stripes and which wore silver/aluminum stripes. Here is a photo of 555 - stripes look white to me http://www.railfan.net/railpix/ABPR/july99/07-14-99/atxsf555billweibel.jpg I don't believe anyone has offered a Zebra stripe Alco RSD-15 RTR N Joy Don Brown Tucson AZ USA [ 14 February 2001: Message edited by: dbn160 ]
While it sounds like a few are out there, what about conversion kits and decals?? Happy Modeling!! John
Don - I didn't think there was any rhyme nor reason as to which units were silver and which were white. Maybe where they were painted/repainted? John - Microscale offers the following decal sets: 60-247-1 Santa Fe (ATSF) Diesel - Hood & Switcher - Zebra Stripe - White Lettering 60-247-4 Santa Fe (ATSF) Diesel - Hood & Switcher - Zebra Stripe - Silver Lettering 60-248 Santa Fe (ATSF) Diesel - Hood & Switcher - Zebra Stripe - Silver Lettering Anybody know the difference between the last 2 sets? Dwight
The MS online catalog shows the following 60-249-1 N Stripes Barricade 45ยบ - White 60-249-4 N Stripes Barricade ATSF Style 45 Deg - Silver AFAIK the above 2 sets are stripes only and set 60-248 is the rest of the lettering. When you search on stripes it gives you the 249 sets When you search on Santa Fe it gives you the 247 sets Not sure which is correct without scoping the actual decal sheet.
