Wow, and just in time.... Kato announces the next passenger train!!!! http://www.internettrains.com/merchant2/graphics/00000003/TOM-432.jpg
And there were two different SP Owls. The Pacific Lines Owl between LA and Oakland and the Atlantic Lines (T&NO) Owl between Houston and Dallas. The bars in the lounge cars in each train were noted for their different stools. The Pacific Owl stools were a different color and texture than the Atlantic Owl stools. The Pacific Owl stools were usually much softer than the Atlantic Owl stools. Much could be learned about studying samples of these various stools. Anyway, it is inevitable that Jerry is becoming familiar with Owl stools.^o,o^
It made front page news in 1902 in an appalling SP accident with the Owl. Warning signals weren't heeded, and the resulting Owl debris closed the SP entirely. http://www.cocohistory.org/essays-wreck.html As a result, new safety appliances were instituted on the SP. I don't know if those included giant steel screens over the railroad or not to prevent flying Owl debris, but it never happened again.
Looks great Jerry!:thumbs_up: I think your proactive approach using sturdy scenery will pay off in more ways than one. It will tolerate low flying aircraft that dumps it's waste, temp changes and cleaning with less damage. I would hate to see this layout build end after all the effort you have put into it. Jerry
Just getting around to catching up on my own thread....LOL Great reading Randgust! Mike...awesome video. Talk about filming in the right place at the right time. (PS hope that was 'my' owl! LOL) Thanks to everyone for the support as always. I have done more work to the garage and layout and will be getting photos posted as soon as I get a few minutes from work. Its been hectic lately!
Are we still hooting about the owl? Darn thing takes a crap and makes head line news. I take a...well...it stinks up my house. Now if Kato is going to make a replica of the darn thing then count me out. LOL
Jerry's problem made headlines because he models in N-Scale. When you multiply the owl deposits by 160 you have gigantic objects...talk about HAZMAT.
Modeling inside today.....too dang HOT in there. 90 in the shade!!! Would go down there tonight, but I will be enjoying the air conditioning inside watching the Hatfield and McCoys.....LOL
Jerry, it's good to see you back, battling the elements. It's been warm here too so I'm spending valuable train time hosing down the posies... No major avian challenges though, other than the red tails eyeing he cat... Best, Otto
