Having only seen the area in books/mags/pictures before laying the track, and then going there after the track was down, I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. The one long straight-a-way is too long verses the real line, but I don't mind. More time to appreciate the models.:)

This will have a flat area here where the parking lot is, and higher up, the Condo's. (Think I'll go with Kato's Apt. for this.)

Wow, Jerry that is looking GREAT!!! I've been there in real life, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress.

You are at a really fun stage in layout building in my opinion. You can really see measurable progress at the end of each day!! Glad to see that you are using the good ol' cardboard strip method for your scenery. That's what I use, and it's great for getting the proper contours when you are modelling an actual location like you and I are doing. Plus, you can't beat the price! Last time I checked, leftover cardboard boxes and hot glue were pretty darn cheap :)

That is going to be one AWESOME scene -- can't wait to see it w/ a 199 train on the Santa Fe tracks and a long SP manifest down along the water. Of course your 199 train will have your brass GP60Ms on the point, to make the scene complete :)

This is awsome...I like seeing the photographs of the proto location lying on top of the work.

I just can't believe your building this in Alabama(?) Otherwise all of us Bay Area folks would sure love to visit when it's done.

Nice work Jerry. One question...what is the shade of blue you used for the water? It looks close to the color I'm looking for.

The paint is cheap Walmart spray paint, Royal Blue. I bought several cans thinking it wouldn't go very far, but I did all of the 'ocean' with ONE can! :) I have a couple left if you want one, give me your address and I'll send you one.

I know in alot of the photos the 'ocean' looks very blue. There is actually alot of black in it too. After the blue dried, I feathered Testers Flat Black out of a spray can in different areas. I am also going to feather some olive green by the shore. When the Matte Medium goes over it, I think it is going to look pretty good. :)

After looking back at page 3 and the garage shot - I'll paraphrase that classic line from "JAWS"....

Uh, I think we need a smaller boat!

Thanks for the offer Jerry. My wife shops Wally every weekend. That color is basically what I was looking for. I was thinking of finishing it with gloss medium to represent the slow river movement of the Arkansas.

I really like the shade of blue it is. :) It's very close to alot of the photos I have of the ocean.

LOL :);) One of these days I am going to get it in the water. It's a dang shame when you buy a boat and it sits in the garage.

Here's the base for the ATSF Pinole station scene. The station will be some where near where the curved piece of track is. Eucaliptus trees will blend the scenes together, and the track will go through the back drop here to Franklin Canyon. The SP main will make the big dog bone and loop back, or will head into the hidden Ozal Yard.
I injuried my back at work a couple weeks ago throwing a bad switch and can't lift anything so a big Thank You to Kimberly and my friend Dan Rebich for lifting all the wood lately. (I did lift the cardboard strips into place.):)
This will be it for a couple of days on the layout. :(Tomorrow I go get a shot in the spine to see if a disk is herniated, and they say I will not be able to get up for about 24 hrs. Come on weekend! :)
