I've seen this engine in my local Hobby shop many times, it looks good. I always here people complaining about it though, I heard they had problems with the side rods. Does it also run bad? What is everyones opinion on this one? Kevin
Is this an older model? or a new one? I have two of them. One runs and the other doesn't. The one that runs is okay, but nothing to write home to mother about! The non-runner is a "round-house engine" it sits in the round-house and looks nice. I am not sure why it doesn't run, I have had it apart too many times to count. These engines were made by SAMHONGSA(spelling?) about 7-8 years ago and sold directly to buyers by ATLAS. I notice that ATLAS doesn't do this anymore! About 20 of them were bought by members of the local N-scale club(K-SONS). About half of yhe engines were returned quickly to ATLAS for a refund. I kept both of mine, I figured I could find out what was wrong with them. I figured WRONG. You might get lucky and get one of the 2-8-8-2's that ran okay, and you might not. I don't want steam engines that run OKAY anymore, not after the fine example that the KATO 2-8-2 Mikado set. I want steam engines that run GREAT! I know that I will have to pay for this, but I can live with that. So the INDIANA RAILWAY keeps looking for the next new steam engine that comes out and hopes for another fine runner. ATLAS,BACHMANN,KATO,LIFE-LIKE WE WANT GOOD RUNNING STEAM POWER! DO YOU HEAR US? Let me get down off the soap-box now. LOL ------------------ Let's Go Run Trains MARK
