Looks like I finished just in time to build two more Cheers, -Mark
Marks, The whole train looks fantastic. Nice. I will push on and get the Pre-Rebuilts dine in a week or so. -James
Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated I think I got all of my mistakes out of the way on these. The pre-rebuilds should go much smoother (I hope!) Cheers, -Mark
Here is an update on the pre-rebuilds. It's not done yet but I am close. Figuring out were all the pipes go is a bit of a challenge! - James
Hey James, would it be possible to put little dimples up on top indicating where all of the handrail stanchions would go? It'd make my life a whole lot easier Cheers, -Mark
Yep will do, I looked doing the hand rails etc but I think they will be just to clunky? I am also wondering about the deck, if it is loose it will make painting easier but may be a bugger to print? This will take so working out. -James
I'm back home from the Land of Spookshow and finally got everything together to do some air brushing. I gave both bottles a complete coat of Tru-Color Harbor Mist Grey acrylic as a primer coat. No problem with the acetone-based paint and the FUD plastic. I'll let them dry overnight then start masking for the Armour Yellow shot. FWIW, I received my Bachmann sound/DCC equipped DD40AX (sic) #6940 today. It will be a stand-in for 6936 in excursion service as "protection" power with 3985. Since both locos are sound-equipped, the excursion consist will be a noisy one.
Mark, I assume you are going to use brass wire for the handrail and stanchions? If so what is the diamiter or gauge of the wire? - James
Looks like another winner, James. BTW, my pair of bottles have the paint done and are waiting on free modeling time for decals.
