Well, earlier i was messing around with a set of these trucks and i came to a simple conclusion about using them with the P87 wheelsets. Set them on a flat surface. If the truck will not rock with pressure applied to the mounting pad it will work. If it starts rocking, throw it in the scrap bin!

So i think the way for me to buy Athearn 6 axle power in the future is to test the trucks at the store to see if they are properly aligned. If they are the trucks will work quite well, if not they won't really work at all.

So it looks like i can buy and use Athearn 6 axle power again, i just have to test them first! [IMG]

I had two Hobbytown (I think E-7 or 8s) long diesels, with twin Lindsey power trucks one both engines. Those trucks would ossillate to fit the track, pivoting about the center axel. Those were the smoothest running engines I ever saw. Both were stollen. I have never seen Lindsey powered anything since then. Lindsey also made pass and frt car trucks that were Zamak 5, blackened, and had real springs, and would also move to follow uneven track. That is what we need today, instead of this cheap plastic S---! [IMG]

Well, the 6 axle truck style like Kato/Atlas/P2k/Genesis work great, but of course you have to pay a little more...
