Check the web site! Great updates on the GP-35! www.micro-trains.com Not only are there great locomotive pictures, but they have the size of the track listed as well!
So I click that link Joe, and guess what I see? The 100th N Scale body style, and it's NP! An NP 40' High Cube! Ohh, so tempted, in fact I should just say SOLD! I have a weakness for N Scale NP stuff, and have a huge collection including over 60 NP locomotives. All in the attic now, as I need the space for my new love Z Scale! I think I'll order 3 of them. Oh, I almost forgot, what was the Z Scale MTL offerings? Ahh, the progress report on the GP-35: MTL GP-35 And 4 Z Scale releases this month! Count them, 4 no less! MTL is sure committed to Z these days: April MTL Releases I can't wait to get some of those GP-35's. Looking at the shell, the rear end reminds me of my need for GP-7's 9's and 18's and i think this mechanism will fit the bill real nice! -Robert
I understand it is hard to fight that temptation Robert. Heck, even though my focus is on Z, I still pre-ordered an N scale American 4-4-0 from Model Power. Can't seem to resist that small steam. Even if it is that other scale!
Robert- If the photo on their web site is correct, the body color shows as brown? If so, it's wrong! That series of cars was green. Without the black outlines around the "NP" or Monad. Boxcab E50
Doh! Now what? I guess I have to pass. Back to modifying my new Z Scale Bumble Bee into an NP D-2 Class Mogul!
Well, I'm told the color is supposedly actually "dark green." If so, no matter what I do with my screen, the photo showing at MTL looks brown. Oh well. Even if "dark green," it's still wrong. And has the incorrect black outlining. Car should be a light green. No black! Boxcab E50
It is funny, but I was checking out a prototype photo site and found a photo of a very similar NP car. Though it is not a hy-cube 40', but the lettering is sure close. Interesting photo all the same. The photo is from: http://krugtales.50megs.com/rrpictale/rrpictale.htm There are some great images on the site. This site is giving me some ideas for scenes on my Z gauge modules. rob- That car on it's side appears to be of the 42xxx-43xxx series. A faded, mineral red 40' SD box car w/roof walk. A photo of the actual car done by MT, 659999, appears on page 44 of the Sullivan NP Freight Cars book. Slightly color shifted. However, a better version of the actual green can be seen on the car just above that. Except that one has black outlining the 659999 should not carry. Boxcab E50
