MoP - Wichita Division Hello MoPers, There are some of us out here. I've researched the Wichita Division of the MoP for my 1948 N-Scale Model Railroad of El Dorado Kansas. The MoP was important in my families history and its been a pleasure to discover this Great Railroad. James
From the Van Buren Sub Welcome to trainboard!! Good to have another mopac fan on board. I model the Van Buren Sub circa 1975-77. Look forward to seeing your progress on the layout.
Didn't the Frisco run through El Dorado? There is a Frisco bridge just south of town I believe. Charlie
E-8 South of El Dorado but still in Butler County the Frisco trackage became part of Burlington Northern RR in 1980 Merger. The East west Frisco began in Beaumont in eastern Butler Though the Flinthills then I believe Keighley, then though Leon. There was a crossing in southern Auguta near Frisco and Santa Fe Streets where it cossed the Sante Fe RR.The overpass you mentioned is the old Highway 96. The overpass still exists, I believe, but is more and more obscured by trees. The Frico water tower still exist in Beaumont and is now on the Natioal Register of Historic Places. All of this is still in Butler county. Jsonger
Welcome to Trainboard. This is Mark Tulip, with whom you have exchanged a few e-mails. My alter ego is Fotheringill, owner of the Lessons Learned Lines. Until a few months ago, I thought MoPac was a type of auto carrier.
Hey,I'm Here!! Hey,I'm Here!!While I'm Not as Familiar With As Much MoPac Operations As I Am Espee*(*I Lived In Flatonia From 1974-96.)Operations,I Still Know About The MoPac To Be Interested.I Was Born February1,1959 In Freeport,Texas,And I Used To See The MoPac Switch Cars At Dow Chemical and The Port of Freeport.Plus The Occasional Road Move From Freeport to Angleton.I Also Saw An Occasional MoPac Freight In Mumford;Marlin;Hearne and Taylor. So Count Me In!!
I'm here too. I've changed my plans from doing a mainline layout in the Pacific,, Missouri area to doing an up-dated version of the Warsaw Branch. I just thought doing a branchline would be more interesting. Only big problem is there's not a lot of info out there, the what I haved received has come from this site and the guys in the MPHS. Keep on modeling MoPac
:tb-wink: I also would like to be included, Ihave been collecting MoPac power and rolling stock for years, my layout is finally getting built here in ElDorado, kansas. on my pike set in 1962 steam is still alive and the blue and gray dominates the blue. My Road My Rules. Larry :tb-shocked:
I'm also a MoPac fan. The Missouri Pacific is one of the connecting roads that I model. Two different MoPac locals interchange with the AD&N.
I model some MoPac, specifically the IGN as it appeared in Sugar Land in the 1950s. The Mop shared joint track rights with the MKT on the old Galveston Houston & Henderson RR through the town that I went to high school in. I used to watch them switch a mineral oil plant along the bayou in Dickinson, Texas where I went to school. The tracks went right behind the football stadium and made for an occasional train watching opportunity during a game. The old depot had been moved but the mother of a good friend of mine was involved in its maintenance.
