No railroad pics from the US. Ive been in Europe since 84mg: If I dig around I might have a pic of the "Dinky" that I got from a relative..and I have a pic if one of my relatives that worked for, I believe, the WCW (line before the MP took it over) As far as pics I can get you all kinds of stuff with german railroading!!
I have lots of slides I have not yet been able to change to digatal yet. I also have some photos I took before I started shooting slides, can these be scanned and posted here?
Here's something that's MoPac related: I've acquired an Atlas O-scale GP15-1 and am planning on painting it Jenks blue. I have the cab decals ready to go and found long hood numbers from an O-scale Alton & Southern set. I'm not quitting N-scale, but I have a soft spot for Mopac GP15s. I have a small switching layout in mind. I've posted a suggestion on the Atlas board for a Mopac GP15 Trainman set. Their wide vision caboose doesn't have the cupola 3/4 offset like Mopac's did, but it would be close enough for me.
Thanks Paul. I've been tied up with chasing the kids and finishing out another part of the basement. I've now earned some modeling time! A few Mopac projects in my hopper include a pair of bi-level autoracks 'bashed from MT Penn Central open bi-levels and a pair of MT tri-level repaints into MP (former ATSF with full screens and no sign panels). I plan to cover the sides of the open bi-levels with corrugated siding made from styrene like the prototpe: The decals from Tom @ OddBall are here, so hopefully I'll be firing up the airbrush this weekend. I just joined up. I'm just starting my model railroading efforts with the intention of semi-prototyping the MP in the 1950's and early 1960's (my boyhood). I've lived in Northern CA for the last 21 years but grew up in north-western Kansas (Stockton). My father owned a Firestone store that sold tires, applicances,toys, etc., and much of the merchandise was delivered by rail. We would have "Boxcar Sales" where the appliances were unloaded from the boxcar and staged on the loading platform for inspection by the customers — many units were sold without ever moving them from the rail dock to the store several blocks away. It was a different time and place. I'm finding a few MP rolling stock kits in the area, but not much interest in a Fallen Flag midwestern railroad. The famous UP Feather River Route is only about 25 miles from me, the McCloud River Railroad about 70 miles, and the Sacramento Railroad Museum and all that history is about 90 miles away. The locals don't much care about those blue locos and all that "flat" ground. Oh well, I'll carry the flag...

That's from a few years ago. There are probably members here who can describe it, but it might be had to get a picture. I know of some conversions in N scale, but I don't know that they are road specific. Welcome to TrainBoard. Missouri Pacfic Fan Yes I am a Mopac fan all the way from South Africa I model a mythical bridge line that connects the Missouri Pacific to the New York Central, and the UP. Reason! I started out in HO with a couple old early NYC Tenshodo brass locos, very crude in those 1965 days, the next brass loco that I bought was a Hallmark Missouri Pacific 2-8-2 bras loco that ran very well, then a few more as well as a 4-6-2 from Pacific Fast Mail, then I was hooked, I have a son that lives in Houston, and that formed the UP connection. I'm a MOP fan too! How could I not be? I was born and raised and still live in Sedalia Missouri: MoPac central. I drive by the old shops on a daily basis. My great grandfather was a machinist at the Kansas City Shops and my grandfather and his brother also worked for the MOP. It's pretty awsome that the handsomest of all the 4-8-4's, Missouri Pacific 2200 series northerns, were built right here in my home town. If you haven't already, look for a book entitled "MoPac Power". It's a got tons of great pictures in it and covers the entire empire through different eras. Unfortunately, by the time I came along the UP had taken over so that's what I grew up seeing. Naturally that's what I model. I also model in 1:29 G scale and there's not much offered in Missouri Pacific schemes. I still keep an old FA1 in MOP livery and I don't even want that engine as I'm modeling modern equipment. I'll never sell it or trade it off though because of the paint job.
Southern Scenic Anyone have any info or pics on Mopac's Southern Scenic Train #223-#224 through Carthage, Missouri and The Ozarks? I grew up down there too late to see any passenger trains. I'm interested in the last years of this train from 1958-1960. I'm new here so this is my first post. I hope to have something to give back eventually. Thanks!
