Well, Paul's cabeese come to mind, but then that's an N scale topic. Us true blue fans are still here!

It wouldn't break my heart to once again visit Van Buren, AR and see a consist of blue EMDs on the point of a freight awaiting a crew change. And catch GP18s, GP30-2s, and U23Bs on the engine ready tracks waiting for their turn on locals.

    Friscobob;

Know how you feel. I would love to go to Dupo, Illinios to see some Jenks Blue SD-40's, 40-2's and a bunch of U-Boats. Those were the days. There were always a couple of GP's to make it fun driving over there.

    Bob:

    First time to this site.

Since you can't do it nowadays I hope to re- create that scene on my new railroad in HO. I lived along the Clarksville branch on the VB sub when I was a kid. First cab ride etc.

    Mopman:

Welcome aboard! Even though you model those Horribly Oversized things, hope to see some of your work in the near future. The more blue, the better, right?

Well, it wasn't blue, but saw a former Mopac SD50 tonight up here in Seattle. It had a black line thru the "Un-Popular" on the sides and some lease outfit stencils on the cab. Oh, and former MPX 56 wrecking derick crane and some MP flats on a B&B gang in Kent, WA. right now putting in a bridge on the Seattle Sub. The old MP is still around!

    Eagle 2:

Any engine in any scale with Missouri Pacific blue on it is better than Armour Yellow in N scale.

When I do get a chance to shoot some pics I'll post them in the HO forum. Right now trackwork is taking up most of my time as I am doing it one spike at a time.

That's one thing to like about N - the urge to handlay is greatly suppressed. I like your sentiment about colors, although I must admit to owning one yella fella:

But all things considered, I think it's alright to run that one.

    Eagle 2:

    Nice load.

The only yellow on my layout will be the TTX TOFC flats.

However there will be foreign power from the Frisco with a live interchange in Van Buren and possible D&RGW run through power on a planned coal train from Colorado. That should add enough variety and color.

For those not aware the latest edition of N scale Railroading (March/April) has an article on MoPac locomotives

Congrats (again) Paul on another NSR article. Man, I'm really slacking. I need to get that Mopac shorty bay caboose or my vending machine article off to Kirk. Then again, I'm getting married next week and I've got a lot of drywall left to hang in the basement. ;)

I'll pick up a copy today at the LHS.

Then again, you've done several Mopac caboose projects. Maybe NSR needs an article for the different variations you've modeled. [IMG]

Good luck with the marriage Tim, I did ask Kirk if he wanted an article on doing a SBWQ caboose however he said one had already been published. I am considering an article on the different styles of cabeese though, one similar to what Tony Hammes did recently

Tim - definately congratulations, and having used your template for vending machines to make some (and having gotten positive feedback from fellow modelers) I'd say definately go for the article.

 Well this is an old thread but I'm new..
I grew up in Southern Illinois out in the middle of nowhere. There was the sound of trains all the time. Due west about 5or 6 miles away ran the Illinois Central from Duquion to Centralia, and the MoPac crossed at Tamaroa. It made a big arc and about 5 or 6 miles away north of me it ran into Scheller and on to the Waltonville mines. At Waltonville the CB&Q crossed and went into Sesser which was 5 or 6 miles east. The C&EI ran through there (also with the buzzsaw) into the Inland Steel and Orient Mines. Now in Scheller was about half my relatives, and I thought it was the most natural thing in the world to have a train track running though your front yard. Not much of a variety of cars but those Blue Geeps and U Boats and long coalcars and the buzzsaws are still in my mind. The loud deep thoaty horn of the MP was a lot different than the high pitched chime of the IC and later Amtrack that ran west of me. The Mopac was the Trains I saw up close. The Crews would stop and get snacks at the little general store in Scheller. The RED caboose would be a treat to wait for, the big buzzsaw or maybe the eagle on the side. And always a wave from the crew. I guess memories are what this is all about. And the Mopac coaltrains hold special memories to me.
