Hi Ol Hoss, welcome to the trainBoard. We're happy to have you on board, especially since you are drawn to the ex-B&M Conn River District....

Since it's coming on summer, my suggestion would be to take a hiking vacation up the Conn River Line from Brattleboro to St. Albans. OK, maybe just take a room in White River Jct. for a few weeks and walk/drive north and south to get a feel of some really neat railroad ROW, bridges, and scenery.
'Tain't nothin' like Florida, doncha know...:tb-cool:

Here's a page or two of photos, no particular order, but might give you a sense of the scenery.

Hmmm, Does it run out of "North Station" Boston? I could try to get pics.

I was born and raised in St Albans and hung out by the spur lines flattening pennies in the early sixties. I now live in FL. Makes it a little hard to take a hiking trip LOL! Was looking for a site or sites with mucho pictures to help me. There are some locations where the line ran that were awesome! I am going to combine the Vermonter with my freight train memories. Will have to take some trips and take photos, photos, photos.
