    Hey Guys!

Thanks for taking the time to read this forum.

As you are all aware, Bachmann Trains WAS supposed to release an HO Scale 2-10-0 Russian Decapod in December 2000. Road names include SLSF, Erie, SAL, WM, and Undec. [IMG]

After reading their web site, I noticed that the Russian's have been pushed off until 2001. So I emailed Bachmann to find out what is up. [IMG]

Bachmann replied two days later with the following short blurb:

" THE TOOLING PROCESS FOR THE 3 TRUCK HO SCALE SHAY'S WAS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THAN ANTICIPATED. WHEN THE PRODUCTION OF THE SHAY IS COMPLETED, THEY WILL START ON THE DECAPODS." [IMG]

Guys, Bachmann didn't give any dates, but you can read in between the lines. You've all paid in advance for one of these, and you should be upset. Don't count on them until May or June. This is MY GUESTIMATE ONLY. Either way, how disappointing. The Russian was one of the most awaited models of this year!

I appreciate what Bachmann is doing in terms of coming out with good quality steam, but I would have appreciated a PR Notice. Paying for something in advance and not receiving the goods on a timely ( within reason ) basis
    is a little frustrating.

If you would like me to email you a copy of the note Bachmann sent, please let me know in this forum, or explain how I could down load it onto here.

    Sorry for the bad news!

    Thanks!

    Randy

Randy, if the notice is not too big, you might scan it and send it like a photo. ??
I heard Rivarossi just sold out too. Maybe we can get some good engines without the XXXed rubber bands on the drivers and brass wheels instead of plated plastic.

That is iinteresting info from Bachman about the Russian. I was about to get a pre-order until I purchased 3 of the 2-8-0's in hopes of wiring them up with Soundtrax. These are supposed to be great steamers but I am not impressed at all. They look great but the performance is very disapointing. I have heard from others that they felt the 2-8-0
was wonderful but all of the experiences I have had with the Spectrums makes me not so quick to get another. Poor electical contact,
out of round rear drivers and two tenders that shudder down the track do to bad wheel sets are just the start. If it was just one of them, fine, but all 3 are less than spectacular certainly when run next to my
Athearn Genesis Mike's and all 4 of my wonderful, near perfect P2K Heritage 0-8-0's.
    Thanks for the info.--
