Hi I just saw that thread and must say: very impressive! I wish I had that space in our basement. Do you run this layout by yourself or is this a model railroad club? Best regards Thom
Thanks for the input and comments everyone. Thom It is my MRR I built it and did pretty much all of it so far, but I have a core group that operates it with me. Its an old school DC operation with 9 cabs.
I’m always amazed you do all that with DC! I can almost imagine all the lights dim in western Colorado when you guys start up the grade! Let alone turn on all those cabs!!!!!!
LOL yessir Dale, that old electric meter us a humming right along. I finally finished up that hospital flat car it is in service now. Thanks for looking!
Here is a Tichy crane I got as part of an Estate I ended up with, I painted the crane with a silver/grey mix made some QA&P decals up and applied. These are very nice cranes with a lot of details and a joy to finish. The crane boom car was made out of 3 different cars, part of an MDC flat, part of a Athearn Gondola, and the steps off a caboose with some handrails that I bent up, all parts are leftovers from custom builds over the years. Speaking of leftover parts the 2 QA&P MW gondolas were left over ends from projects. The boxcar is a generic 40' box, that is in MW service. Thanks for stopping by
Fantastic Tom, your work is amazing! I always enjoy seeing you post new pictures. Just makes me want to see the QA&P up close and in person some day!
Tom always like seeing your work like the way the work train turned out. Was the tichy crane hard to build. I have several crane projects coming up.
Thanks dale maybe you can get the chance to stop by one day LOL. Vince thanks for the nice comments, I didn't build the crane, I just did some minor work to it and finished it for my QA&P. All of the Tichy kits I have ever built are good kits to build, designed very well, and go together great every time, but you gotta be careful to not use too much glue.
Well another QA&P SD40T-2 is rolling around here the 749 started out as a basic Athearn BB shell and frame, but with many modifications and details I think it will pass for OK. First the 749 Here are the trio of QA&P Tunnel units. The 749-748-1976. And 4 QA&P SD40/40T-2's, 747-746-748-749. Same consist headed in timetable East direction. A colorful ready track of Frisco and QA&P power today. Thanks for stopping by!
Looks great Tom!!! As usual your locomotives are outstanding with just the right amount of weathering. Joe
Had an Op session Sunday with some good friends over, was great to see them! With our 1 week of Fall come and seemingly gone I look FWD to a little more time in the MRR barn! On the Xovers at Cliff On the QA&P bridge west of Quanah
