    HI Everyone,

Now that almost all of us have had long enough to look at, and judge the Accu mates, what do you guys think?

How is the appearance (apposed to the MT's)

Do they hold up as well?

Do the trucks roll as well?

I'm sure other have noticed but you can run a LONG train with MT's for quit a while but after a certain time periode the train has a tendency to seperate. A lot of the guys in my club think it is because the friction of the wheels causes the plastic to heat up, there for making it more pron to bend and "break" trains in two.

Has any one noticed this with the AM's?

    Thanks for the input.

As others have pointed out on egroups and other places, the pins tend to drop out of the couplers. I had a rather dramatic occurance of this phenomenon this past weekend. I was running a train at about quarter throttle, and apparently the pin fell low enough to catch on a turnout frog. The coupler exploded into three pieces, and the car flew off the tracks [IMG] The morbid side of me loved it, but the modeler was of course concerned.

I had high hopes for a lower cost alternative to the MT couplers. Looks like I'll keep hoping...

They haven't started selling them by themselves yet. Reportedly, they will be selling them soon. They're shipping on Atlas stuff. I've been trading one set of MT trucks/couplers for two sets of Accumates, so for me anyway, they're half price! [IMG]

PS: Let me know if anyone wants to trade. Because of postage, I should probably keep it to ten pairs of trucks for five pairs of MT.

I was wondering, do the acumate and micro-trains couplers work with each other? And is there any othe way to couple/uncouple cars, other thatn the magnetic coupler/uncoupler that goes under the track?

I haven't had any problems mating the AM and MT couplers. I don't use the magnets for uncoupling, I like this tool, I think it's called a "Rix-Pick" (say that ten times fast!).
