    Hi folks!

Another DCC-newbie question for you all.

I'm (going to be) using a Digitrax Empire Builder setup, but I'm not (for now) going to hook in my turnouts into the DCC system. (It's a small layout, and I don't see the need to control my turnouts from the throttles)

So, I'll have the good ol' layout schematic on the side of the layout.

Now, how do I POWER my turnout machines? I'm using the Atlas 'under-the-table' switch machines, and I've got about 11 turnouts.

While I'm at it, how do I power accessories? Like building lighting and other lights?

    Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

I believe that any 12 volt dc powersuply should work for either use. Just make sure that you dont accidentaly connect anythind to the DCC system....Mike

I use a power supply from Loy's Toys, connected to a Miniatronics Power Distribution Block. A Circuitron adjustable power supply (for my signals and parking lot lite LED's)is then connected to the Power Dist Block. A Miniatronics Capacitive Discharge Unit, to provide power to my Peco switch machines, is then connected to the Power Dist Block . This hook-up works very well for me.

Any old power pack will do, just use the AC output like you normally would.

Old PC power supplies are cheap, sometimes free and provide plenty of power. My old supply would make the snap switches buzz, but the PC supply I hooked up this week works wonderfully. No buzz, just a solid "snap!".

A PC supply should work for lights, too.
