Saturday night, after a late night chasing boats and trains out in Conneaut, something unexpected happened on the way home. Three doubles (the last one was actually three trains) came by within the span of a few minutes. It started in Unionville with 11-J, a WB NS autorack entering the siding. As he was rolling in, across the way the CSX gates came down and another WB rack train flew by. 15 minutes and the other side of Madison later, we found who 11-J went into the siding for, an east bound Triple Crown RoadRailer, being raced by a stack train on CSX.

By now, we were wondering if it could get any better, here it's after 3AM and we're nowhere near home (After 3? I wonder if the 'roller skate's' come by yet?). We moved along west a couple miles to give time for 11-J to pull out of the siding. Coming across Townline Rd, we saw what looked like two lights out east, could we have another one? Well, 11-J showed up on a yellow heading into Perry, and heard the other train coming, tripping the detector only a half mile away. Hmm, short...Could it be????!!!!!

Yes!!!! Amtrak 49, The Lake Shore Limited WB doing all of its 79 MPH! Just after 11-J cleared, the gates came back down and 6 light engines came through EB on CSX, that was a triple!

Well, 11-J had to be talked through the red in Perry (the signal after that was red also, followed by a green.) We decided to check for any boats in Fairport, of which there were none before deciding to head for the barn. Coming up through 'Noodle Street' in Painesville (CSX CP 154), we heard a familiar horn on Norfolk, so we rushed up to Jackson St. just in time for 11-J to finally come through in all its glory at track speed.

About an hour ago, we caught what could be considered another triple. Two long CSX autoracks passed right in front of us at Hopkins Rd. Afterwards, NS gave us just enough time to get across before running EB 14-G with you guessed it, more autoracks!
