http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=254300&nseq=7 Looks like CSXT #4617 got repainted in YN3 from the old C&O Paint.
Agree hate to see a legendary scheme go away, but all in all that SD40 in YN3 is a sharp looking machine. Jamie
I was shocked to see that 4617 was repainted, since CSX designated that unit and the remaining SD40's as B unit or yard duty locomotives, and if they suffer a mechanical failure, to immediately retire without repair.... or "die". All those times 4617 hung around Huntington the last 3 years or so, i figured someone on the inside had been trying to keep it out of the paint shop.
I'm glad I caught it when I did. I always kind of assumed that every time there was an order to repaint it, some foreman or another would conveniently "forget".
