2 Day trip to South Dakota

    Photos from a needed vacation trip to South Dakota.
    From Friday afternoon, a trip on the Black Hills Central.
    Got real lucky, as power for this trip was BHC #110, a 2-6-6-2T steam locomotive!
    Also have video of the #110 in action!

    Grades range from 4% to 6%!! Locomotive had a great bark to exhaust on grades!
    Was very well worth the while! A video of the 110 and other photos to be added later.
    These are just a quick teaser!

    A 5 minute video of train as it return to Hill City, SD from Keystone, SD.
    Grade here ranges between 4% and 6%.

    Keith, great to see this seldom-fanned operation covered here. The 2-6-6-2 has quite a history. :tb-biggrin:

    Ah the 1880 train...or thats what it was called...Used to live in Rapid City, well Ellsworth AFB, but close enough, way back in the early 90s...go there quite often
