Right, so, 'Hello!' I live on the West Coast of New York (Lake Erie shoreline). I decided I needed a better winter hobby than hibernating until the temperature rose above 50 degrees. I'm originally from Southern Cal, so even after 21 years here the winters still shock me.

I have a 1930-33 Lionel 400e loco, Vanderbuilt tender and 3 passenger cars that belonged to my grandfather. Great condition, runs around the Christmas tree every year. I was at the big WNY train show last weekend looking for standard gauge stuff, and decided on a spur of the moment to buy a Bachmann N scale starter set. I have a spot in our home office that is 28" x 75", and have decided to model the Piz Gloria (Swiss) ski resort from the James Bond movie 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. My 17 y/o daughter just rolled her eyes, but my 14 y/o daughter is 'all in'.

I also am a member of the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association, a life member of the Simca Car Club, as well as the Mercedes Club of America, the British Saloon Car Club of Canada (write a column for the newsletter), the WNY British Car Club, the Buffalo Octagon, and the MGExperience.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on this forum, and hopefully avoiding some mistakes and missteps by taking the good advice of everyone here!

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

My first N scale, (but not model railroading), was a Bachmann set for Christmas of 1972. A lot of evolving since then!

It would be really nice to see a picture of that 400E. Perhaps some day you could share a photo over in our large scale forum?

What is a saloon car? I don't recall ever reading or hearing that term.

Welcome to the forum. There is something you don't see every day a Simca enthusiast. WOW. I'm from Europe my dad had a Simca 1100 back in the late seventies. Not of of the best cars but not the worst the French made.

    Thank you.
You are right and wrong at the same moment.
I live in Republic of Moldova. It is one of the republics of the ex. USSR. Between 1940 Moldova and Roumania was one Country, but the war and aggresivity of some countries changed it all...

Welcome to a great site for Model Trains. Around here there is so much to spur that thirst, and also learn from some really well informed folks in our hobby.
I grew up in NYC (Brooklyn) so I know what you mean about those winters and even worse upstate.
I look forward to see your progress of your layout.
    I model both N & HO scales
