Thanks to Craig Konklin for the original posting of this short article.

    The Sugar Pine Railroad.

The work of grading for the Sugar Pine Railroad is being prosecuted vigorously from Campbell's station toward the timber belt. In a few days about four miles of roadbed will have been completed. About 150 men are engaged in making the grade.
The company was unable to purchase any rails in this country, unless they were content to place the order and wait for no indefinite period for its fulfillment. The best promise that could be secured for delivery meant a delay of from one to two years, and the company has purchased the rails in Germany, which will materially hasten the completion of the road. The rails are due here in July, but taking into account all possible delays in transportation they may not arrive until next September month. Their reception even at that late date would enable the company to complete the road before the heavy rains of winter.

I find the language "prosecuted vigorously" to be interesting. It's definitely from another time.
