You are just plain evil. Wish I had been there. I only have a few cars I have not run including a couple of MT depressed center flats and Xmas cars only because I was never moved to run them.
I still have that car, and I'm not really going to weather it. I have a photo of a SP&S cab and it's really clean. I just wanted to see the look on his face. It reminds me of when I used to be in a car club. There were guys who had classic muscle cars that never drove them. What's the point?
I bought a bunch of MT back in 1999-2000, and forgot about them until last week. Maybe not the very best investment I ever made, but I'm sure they will beat some of those dot-com stocks I bought in the same era! As in, more than zero.
My G&D car is a runner, I've long ago lost the box and I think I've even fitted it with FVM wheels. I could ship it with Australian air at no extra cost. In the future when pollution and climate change has made Earth's atmosphere unbreathable all the MTL collectors will be able to open their boxes and breath that fresh 1970's Oregon air.:tb-biggrin:
Wow... and oldie-goldie thread. The Micro-Trains/Kadee market is very subdued right now and I don't think it will ever get back to the roaring 90's era when there were new high auction prices for just about anything from the 1970's and 1980's. The real issue here is that the market edge that Kadee/Micro-Trains had in the early years is no longer a reason to buy them. If anything... they are below most current model standards for most 'runners' and certainly won't fetch a premium for them. Only the dyed-in-the-wool collector may pay premium prices now-a-days... and there seem to be fewer of them now than there were 20 years ago.
I might have to take you up on that. FVM wheels and Aussie air, too? I haven't had Aussie air in over 20 years.
